하나님께 가까이 함이 내게 복이라(시편73:28)

그런즉 자랑할 데가 어디냐? 있을 수가 없느니라. 무슨 법으로냐? 행위로냐? 아니라. 오직 믿음의 법으로니라. 그러므로 사람이 의롭다 하심을 얻는 것은 율법의 행위에 있지 않고 믿음으로 되는 줄 우리가 인정하노라. 로마서 3:27-28. 어떤 사람은 남보가 건강하여 일이 많다. 다른 사람은 돈이 많아 사람을 사서 남들보다 열배는 더 효과를 낸다. 반대로 어떤 사람은 장애를 안고 태어나 걷기도 힘들다. 지적능력이 부족해 시간이 훨씬 많이 걸리고 그나마 성과도 인정받기 어렵다. 일로 사람을 평가한다면 소망이 별로 없다. 그런데 창조주시며 구원주신 하나님께서는 믿음을 중요하게 보신다. 얼마나 감사한가! 어차피 하나님의 눈으로 보실 때 인간의 일이란 불완전한 것이다. 사람이 구원 박는 것은 그가 전능하신 하나님을 믿을 때다. 이신칭의, 곧 믿음으로써 구원 얻음이 하나님의 뜻이다. 아브라함은 그가 믿을 때 의롭다 하심을 얻었다. 우리를 의롭도록 믿음을 주신 우리 주 예수님께 감사를 드리며 영광을 돌린다.

Then where is boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By works? No, but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a person is justified by faith apart from works of the law. Romans 3:27–28.

Some people are healthy and able to accomplish much work. Others have a lot of money and can hire people, producing results ten times more effectively than others. On the other hand, some are born with disabilities and struggle even to walk. Others lack intellectual ability, so everything takes much longer, and even then their achievements are hard to recognize. If people are evaluated by their work, there is little hope.

But God, our Creator and Savior, values faith. How thankful we are! In any case, when seen through God’s eyes, human works are imperfect. A person receives salvation when he believes in the almighty God. Justification by faith — that is, being saved through faith — is God’s will. Abraham was declared righteous when he believed.

We give thanks and glory to our Lord Jesus Christ, who has given us faith so that we may be made righteous.
