Acts 6:1-15 "Function"

The numbers of believer were increasing with the presence of the Holy Spirit in early churches. Even so, they’re having a problem which is related to the daily distribution of food. The Twelve recognized their mistake over this issue and chose the seven men who are full of the Spirit and wisdom to entrust the problem to them. It looks like the seven men were selected only for taking care of the problem of financial distribution for the churches, but they also did what the disciples of Jesus. We see the Bible introduced the one of the seven, Stephan, and telling that he did great wonders and miraculous signs among the people. In this sense we understand that the relationship between the twelve disciples and the chosen seven men were not separated by the rank, or their mission wasn’t restricted at all.

We all have different roles in our church, but it doesn’t mean we are chosen by the rank nor placing restrictions on them. The main reason we were placed different roles in the church is to spread out the Gospel better. Yes! Speaking out the gospel of Jesus is our one goal and one mission, so do not be bound by our different roles, but rather working together as a speaker of gospel for the kingdom of God.

성령님의 역사 속에 초기 교회는 날마다 성장을 했습니다. 하지만 그럼에도 불구하고 구제를 하는 일에 있어서 문제가 발생합니다. 사도들은 자신들의 실수를 인정하고 문제를 해결하기 위해 믿음과 신앙이 좋은 일곱 명을 택해서 일을 맡기게 됩니다. 이것은 어떻게 보면 선택된 일곱 명이 하는 일이 교회의 재정을 관리만 하는 것으로 제한되어 보입니다. 그리고 그 관계가 계급적으로 보이기도 합니다.

하지만 성경은 선택된 사람 중 한 사람인 스데반 이야기를 하며 그렇지 않다는 것을 알려줍니다. 스데반은 사도들이 하는 것과 같이 복음을 전했습니다. 이것을 통해 사도들이 일곱 명의 사람을 택한 것은 그들의 사역을 제한하거나 서로의 관계를 계급화시키려는 것이 아니었음을 알 수 있습니다.

우리는 교회에서 여러 가지 다른 역할을 가지게 됩니다. 그 이유는 서로를 제한 하거나 계급화하려는 것이 아니라 모두 복음을 잘 전하기 위함입니다. 우리 모두는 주어진 자리에서 복음을 열심으로 전해야 하는 귀하고 복된 공통된 사명이 있습니다.
