하나님께 가까이 함이 내게 복이라(시편73:28)

2016.8.21. Matthew 25: 14-30 “Faithful Servant”

Jesus used a parable to teach us. The story in the scripture, there is one master who entrusted his property to his servants before going on a journey. He gave five talents of the money, two talents of the money, and one talent to each of his servants. When the master came back home, all three servants reported what they gained with his master’s money. The servant had received the five talents of the money gained five talents more, the second servant had the two talents also earned the double of what he had, and they were all praised by their master. The third servant had received the one talent dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money and didn’t gain any extra money. So the master blamed the third servant.

When we read this story, some of them might feel uncomfortable and ask themselves that “Why the master entrusted different amount of his property to his servants?” Even though the Bible says the servants received the money according to their ability, but the third man might feel it wasn’t fair enough for him. People might be in doubt of God’s fairness.

Do you ever heard “A Dirt Spoon, or A Gold Spoon”? Korean called the one who was born with poor family as the dirt spoon, and the one who was born with rich family as the gold spoon. Like the “gold spoon, dirt spoon” theory, some people are born rich, but some others are born as poor. Some families are peace and well, but the others are suffering and go through the agonies.

Why God gives us such an unfair situation to us?

We see the reason for this question from the master’s opinion to his servants. He replied to the first and the second servant that “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.“(25:21, 23) and said “You wicked, lazy servant..”(26a) to the third servant.

The master was not focused on the money that they gained. What he only mattered and concerned about it was their faith. In other words, the first and the second servant received the praise because they have faith. But the third servant was reprimanded for lack of faith. If we live and belief God with money we might think God is unfair, but if we believe our God with faith we recognize and see God is always fairness and justice.

Our Youth is not a large group and we might not make an amazing outcomes, but our God isn’t interested in our biggest or largest accomplishment. He is looking for our faith and our worship with the true and the Spirit.

Please pray for our Youth that they could have a thankful mind under any circumstances and could worship God with the faithful heart.

예수님께서 비유로 말씀하셨습니다. 한 주인이 여행을 가기 전 자신의 종에게 다섯 달란트, 두 달란트, 한 달란트를 맡겼습니다. 그리고 시간이 흘러 주인이 돌아왔을 때 종들은 자신이 그 동안 한 일을 보고했습니다. 다섯 달란트를 맡았던 종은 다섯 달란트를 더 벌었고 두 달란트를 맡았던 종은 두 달란트를 더 벌었습니다. 그리고 주인에게 칭찬을 받았습니다. 하지만 한 달트를 맡았던 종은 맡은 달란트를 땅속에 감추어두었다가 주인에게 보였습니다. 주인은 그 종을 책망했습니다.

이 비유를 살펴보다 면 이상한 점을 발견하게 됩니다. 왜 주인은 종들에게 다른 액수의 달란트를 맡겼을까요? 아무리 재능대로라고 하지만 한 달란트를 맡았던 자의 입장에서 보면 충분히 기분이 상하는 일입니다. 우리는 하나님은 공평하신 분이라고 알고 있습니다. 그러나 이 비유를 놓고 보면 하나님의 공평성에 의심을 가지게 됩니다.

여러분 흙 수저, 금 수저를 아십니까? 가난한 집안에서 태어난 자녀를 흙 수저, 부자의 집안에서 태어난 자녀를 금 수저라고 부릅니다. 가만이 생각해보면 이 세상에는 어떤 사람은 태어날 때부터 풍족한 가운데 있지만 그렇지 않은 사람이 있다는 것을 알 수 있습니다. 어떤 가정은 화목하고 평안하지만 어떤 가정은 수 많은 상처와 고통으로 몸부림치는 가정이 있습니다.

왜 하나님께서는 이러한 불공평한 상황을 우리에게 주셨을까요?

그 이유는 비유에 나타난 주인의 종들에 대한 평가를 살펴보면 알 수 있습니다. 첫 번째 종과 두 번째 종에게는 “그 주인이 이르되 잘하였도다 착하고 충성된 종아 네가 적은 일에 충성하였으매 내가 많은 것을 네게 맡기리니 네 주인의 즐거움에 참여할지어다 하고”(21, 23절) 라고 말합니다. 그리고 세 번째 종에게는 “그 주인이 대답하여 이르되 악하고 게으른 종아…”(26) 라고 말했습니다.

주인의 관심은 종들이 얼마나 많은 돈을 벌었는지에 없음을 알 수 있습니다. 주인의 관심은 종들이 충성하고 있는지 없는지에 관심을 가지고 있습니다. 다시 말하면 첫 번째 종과 두 번째 종은 믿음이 있었기 때문에 칭찬을 받았고 세 번째 종은 믿음이 없기 때문에 책망을 받았습니다.

우리가 만약 우리가 얼마나 가진 것에 관심을 가지며 신앙생활을 하면 하나님은 불공평하게 보입니다. 그러나 믿음을 가지고 신앙생활을 하면 하나님은 언제나 공평하신 분이라는 것을 알게 됩니다. 하나님께서 나에게 주신 것으로 열심히 주의 교회를 섬기며 하나님을 일을 한다면 하나님께서는 ‘착하고 충성된 종아 네가 적은 일에 충성하였으매 내가 많은 것을 네게 맡기리니 네 주인의 즐거움에 참여할지어다” 라고 칭찬해 주실 것입니다.

우리 Youth는 다른 큰 교회들과 비교해보면 뛰어나지도 않고 크고 놀라운 결과물을 내지는 못합니다. 하지만 앞서 언급했듯이 하나님께서는 얼마나 크고 많은 업적을 남기는 것에는 관심이 없으십니다. 하나님께서는 우리가 충성되게 믿음을 가지고 말씀과 찬양으로 예배를 드리는 삶을 사는지를 보십니다.

우리 아이들이 하나님의 나라가 임할 때까지 그들의 환경이 어떠하든지 주어진 삶에 감사하며 믿음을 가지고 충성되게 예배할 수 있도록 기도해 주시기 바랍니다.
