Genesis 4:1-7 “Offering”

The Lord has received Abel and his offering but not Cain and his offering. When we read this scripture carefully, we can see Abel gave his offering and himself to the Lord.

“The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering”(4) This is an important fact to remember.

How Abel gave himself to the Lord? How Abel prepared his offering and himself?

We can find the answer of this question on the book of Hebrews 11:4 in New Testament.

“By faith Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did. By faith he was commended as a righteous man, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith he still speaks, even though he is dead.”

Abel had a faith. His faith is love toward the Lord. If we love someone, we are happy to sacrifice for them even though results of the sacrifice make us in hard situations. Because of love has power to make anything to be possible.

Abel thanked and loved God so that he could offer himself and the offering as well. So God was pleased by Able himself and his offering.

I pray that our Youth could have faith as what Abel had and always be thankful and love God. And I also pray that our Youth could be true worshipers who could please God through our worship, prayer, and praise.

창세기 4장 1-7절 “Offering”

하나님께서는 아벨의 제사는 받으셨지만 가인과 그의 제사는 받지 않으셨습니다. 본문을 자세히 살펴보면 아벨은 제물만 드린 것이 아니라 자신을 하나님께 드렸다는 것을 알 수 있습니다. “아벨은 자기도 양의 첫 새끼와 그 기름으로 드렸더니 여호와께서 아벨과 그의 제물은 받으셨으나”(4)

이것은 중요한 사실입니다. 그렇다면 하나님께서 아벨의 어떤면을 보시고 그와 그의 제물을 기뻐 받으셨을까요?

히브리서11장 4절을 보면 그 이유를 알 수 있습니다.

“믿음으로 아벨은 가인보다 더 나은 제사를 하나님께 드림으로 의로운 자라 하시는 증거를 얻었으니 하나님이 그 예물에 대하여 증언하심이라 그가 죽었으나 그 믿음으로써 지금도 말하느니라”

아벨은 믿음이 있었기 때문에 하나님께서 그 제사를 받으셨습니다. 그 믿음은 하나님을 향한 사랑입니다. 우리는 사랑하는 사람에게 무엇인가를 줄 때 내가 힘들어지거나 어려움에 당하더라도 아까워하지 않습니다. 왜냐하면 사랑하기 때문입니다.

아벨은 하나님에 대한 깊은 감사가 있었고 하나님을 사랑했습니다. 그렇기 때문에 기쁜 마음으로 자신과 제물을 하나님께 드릴 수 있었습니다. 이것은 하나님께서 기뻐하시는 모습입니다.

우리 아이들이 하나님께 나아올 때 아벨과 같은 믿음을 가지고 기뻐하며 감사할 수 있었으면 좋겠습니다. 우리 아이들이 날마다 하나님을 사랑하며 자신을 기쁘게 드리는 예배자가 되기를 기도합니다.
