Shalom!
My wife and I are to visit a seminary in Shenyang, China, and teach the Bible this year from March 27 to 31, forty hours that week. The students, mostly are Chinese by Han Tribes, are about 20. The seminary is the so-called underground school, not permitted by the government. The communist government is basically against anti-religion; Marxist ideology has taught religion is opium of the people. Die Religion ist das Opium des Volkes. As you all know, however, Christianity is the Gosepl of the people. The Gospel is the very good news to the people having no hope at all but total despair. In the light of materialism what Jesus promised may seem to be meaningless. They do not understand, however, people will not live by bread alone but by the Word of God coming out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4). More people die by suicide in the 20s and 30s, both in Korea and the US, than other reasons--this shows by what human beings may live.
The politico-diplomatic circumstance is not that positive in China today. The long-time building used for seminary is replaced; the community gathering is cancelled. Persecution is at hand, not only in the East-North of China we are heading for, but all over the main land of China. Brothers and sisters, please join us in the prayer. Pray for the churches in China under persecutions. Pray for the saints in the churches underground. Pray especially for the leaders, to be strong, trusting in God. All we know God is mightier than any worldly mights. We know God already has done something for us. May God bless you all as well as all the churches in China.
